One Final Time
ONE FINAL TIME
-THE BIGGEST ILLUSION OF LIFE
“Let me have it just one last time, once just once I promise
it will be the last time I take these pills”, she said panting and burning with
anxiety to her worried mother to whom her daughter meant the world.
The girl kept her promise and never consumed those pills
again because just half an hour after requesting her mother she lay lifeless.
On seeing the apple of her eyes become a corpse the old lady
broke down never to be consoled. After the demise of her sweetheart when their
daughter was just three, Christina had
just one reason to live Emma but on seeing Emma die such an untimely death at
the hands of the intoxicating drugs, Christina the brave single mother who gave
all that she could to her daughter cried and cried before following her
daughter in the world after life.
This ‘One final time’ habit has ruined undoubtedly uncountable
lives and still continues to do so because people get tempted to it and are
caught in the web of their toxic habits which never seem to leave them. The one
last time calls are mere outlets for weakness to come out they don’t make any
sense or give any meaning to life and instead lay the platform for promises and
vows to be broken and lives to be ruined.
Imagine a guy assuring his father “This cigarette is the
last one I’ll ever smoke dad believe me”, the rest as they say is history. The
‘Quit Smoking’ slogan only lingers in his mind never put to practice why? Because
everytime he prepares himself to do so, the ‘one final time’ comes to rescue of
the cigarette makers and the guy keeps on losing out on both his lung as well
as his self-image.
The ‘One Final Time therefore I believe is a mass delusion a
conspiracy against oneself. The method where one does not cheat his family, friends
and acquaintances but most importantly himself as well. The guy who needs to
skyrocket his productivity and efficiency still muddled up in his lazy thoughts
even is his early twenties assures himself to chill for the ‘One Final Time’
before transforming himself but the very next day the same story keeps on repeating
itself and the guy keeps going down in everyone’s eyes even himself.
Instead of making the day as last day of a poor and bad me and
to enjoy those meaningless pleasures for the so-called one last time it’s
better to live that day to live that moment as first day of your positive
transformation. Live that day not only the morning like you’re reborn like you’ve
got a new better life. Live the moment as your first day of retreat from all
the negativity around. Live like a revolution like a phenomenon not like a
culprit or victim.
I would like to challenge the logic of ‘Living everyday as
your last’ although it’s just a light hearted message to not wonder in the
future it creates great deal of suffering as it encourages individuals to
persue what gives them pleasure even if it doesn’t make sense and resist the
idea of changing oneself to improve. I firmly believe the better idea is to ‘Live
everyday as your first’ to consider that every morning you are born again and
every day is an opportunity for you to build a great life. Its much better to
feel that way and make every day an instrument of transforming yourself into a MIRACLE
and not misery.
